Fixing slate tiles on to a wall

Hi there,

Can you please tell me if i should use a special adhesive when fixing slate tiles on to a wall?

Or can I use normal tile adhesive?

It is recommended that you use a 'flexible' cementitious wall tile adhesive when applying slate tiles to a wall, this is especially important when installing Brazilian slate tiles onto plasterboard or a studded wall.

It is also very important that you apply an acrylic primer and bonding agent to the walls before tiling begins as this product improves adhesion and reduces the porosity of a variety of surfaces .

In essence, the base you are tiling onto has the potential under the right conditions to suck the moisture from the adhesive before it has had time to dry, this can cause your slate tiles to fall off the wall and be very painful should you be in the vicinity!!
