Choose Your Hearth
T-Shaped Fireplace Hearths
A T-shaped hearth is designed so that the front section sits outside your fireplace chamber, while the back section extends inside it.
Using our diagram, provide measurements A to H in millimetres. Please allow an additional 5mm on every side for fitting and grout.
Top tip: Make a full-size cardboard template first. This will help you check that the hearth fits correctly before entering your measurements. If you would prefer to send us the complete template, please contact us to make the necessary arrangements.
Single-Piece Fireplace Hearths
If you do not need a complete T-shaped hearth, we can produce a single made-to-measure piece for either the inside or outside of your fireplace.
Freestanding Stove Hearths
Our freestanding hearths can be cut to suit your stove and installation.
Before ordering, confirm the required clearance around your stove.
Select Your Material
We specialise in premium natural slate. Choose from the available:
- Colours
- Surface finishes
- Thicknesses
One Piece or Two?
We can manufacture T-shaped hearths as one complete piece or as two separate front and back sections.
A one-piece hearth creates a clean, continuous appearance. A two-piece hearth is often preferred by professional installers because the sections are easier to handle and fit, while the joint can help reduce the risk of heat-related cracking.
Choose Your Base
Your hearth can be made with either:
- A flat base, ready to be fixed directly to the prepared surface
- A box-and-lip base, also known as a riser, to raise the hearth above carpet or the surrounding floor
Our box-and-lip bases are constructed using 30mm strips of slate, securely attached to the underside of the hearth with a strong two-part resin adhesive.
Box-and-lip bases are made as special orders. Please use our [bespoke enquiry form] to send us your measurements, drawings and photographs.
Choose Your Edge
Our T-shaped hearths are precisely cut using a CNC machine and supplied with a standard sawn edge.
For a more decorative finish, we can add either a half-bullnose or bevelled edge to the visible front edges of the hearth - marked A, B and H on our diagram.
Decorative edging carries an additional charge because each edge is finished by hand using wet-and-dry abrasive paper to achieve the desired finish.

Delivery
Standard orders are usually delivered within 14 days. Current estimated delivery dates will be shown in your basket.
Need your hearth sooner? A five-day fast-track service is available for an additional £95, subject to availability.
Your hearth will be delivered upright on a pallet, securely strapped and protected with safety braces.
Installation and Finishing
Your hearth will arrive ready to install. It can be laid on a suitable bed of flexible tile adhesive or a traditional sand-and-cement mortar mix, depending on the installation.
For the finishing touch, we recommend applying a good-quality stone sealer or stone oil. Always follow the product instructions and ensure the completed installation complies with the stove manufacturer’s requirements, current Building Regulations and applicable HETAS guidance.
