T Shaped Hearths - Cut To Size
We are the specialists when it comes to producing T shaped slate hearths and have made thousands over the years.
We need a few details from you, and you can get an instant quote and order online.
Materials –
We specialise in slate, but when other natural stone is available it will show on this page.
Shape –
This product is T Shaped, designed so that the front sits outside your fireplace chamber (A,B & H) and the back (D,E & F) sits inside it.
Measurements –
We need measurements shown in the image from A through to H (mm). Top Tip – make a template of the hearth you need from cardboard and you can make sure it fits, then either input the measurements from this or send us the whole template.
One Piece or Two?
We can make T shaped hearths in either one piece or two separate pieces (front & back). A lot of people like the appearance of a one-piece hearth but two piece is often favoured by professionals as they are easier to fit and less likely to succumb to cracking if they get too hot.
Base
We can make hearths with either a flat base to be stuck straight down or with a box and lip should you need to have the hearth sitting raised above a carpet for example. The box and lip or riser is constructed using 30mm strips of slate which are attached to the base of the hearth using a very strong two-part resin adhesive.
Edging
We make the T shaped hearths on a CNC machine and as standard they come off the machine cut with a standard sawn edge. If you would like something a little more decorative than this, we can apply a half bullnose edge or a bevelled edge to the front edges of the hearth ( A,B & H) on the diagram. There is an additional charge for this as we apply the edging by hand using wet and dry sandpaper to achieve the perfect finish.
Once You Order
We will make your hearth based on all the details submitted on this page, we normally operate on a 2-week delivery time although sometimes we can do it quicker and you will see current delivery times on the basket page of the website. We will send the hearth on a pallet strapped in an upright position with safety braces securing it. It will arrive ready to be installed and we recommend it goes on a base of flexible tile adhesive or normal sand and cement mortar mix whichever is your preference. We also advise using a good sealer or stone oil for the finishing touch.
