What is the difference between bonding and adhesive?

What is the difference between bonding and adhesive?

Is bonding necessary on a concrete floor for my new slate tiles?

Hello Maria

When you talk about bonding I am presuming you talking about bonding agent.

This is applied as a surface preparation to required substrates, it is designed to promote a better bond for the adhesive to stick to.

If substrates are not prepared (acrylic bonded) in line with the advice of the specific adhesive manufacturer for the substrate, you run the risk of adhesive failure i.e unstuck tiles!

The cost is minimal but ensures the correct bond.
