Can you give me some idea of the meterage that a 20kg bag of adhesive will cover on riven tiles?

In general terms we work on a 20kg bag of Mapei adhesive covering approximately 4m2 when using a 6mm notched trowel to fix our Brazilian riven slate. This assumes the surface is sufficiently flat with minimal imperfections.

Should you have any areas of irregularity, it is recommended that these are rectified before tiling commences to avoid issues later on.

It is also important to note that when tiling with slate from other origins i.e. China or India, the coverage rate of the adhesive will inevitably decrease to account for the greater variances in riven texture present with these slates.
