Can I dot and dab my adhesive to install my tiles?

I have been told by my tiler that i can save on adhesive if we dot and dab to lay our tiles, will this be ok?

Hello Cheryl

Dotting and dabbing could potentially save on adhesive costs BUT you will see on the surface of the tile where the adhesive has been placed underneath. The tiles will sound hollow as you walk over them and there is also a great potential that the tiles could crack if enough force is placed on an area of the tile that isn't fully supported by the adhesive.

Therefore it is recommended that all of our natural stones are laid on a 6mm notched 'full bed' of adhesive to ensure that the tiles are fully supported.
