Feature Fireplace Hearths - Making The Most Of Your Home

As the nights begin to draw in, the temperature starts to drop and we crave comfort and warmth, so we reach for the cosy knitted jumpers and the fleecy blankets. Although, here’s our take on how to bring warmth in to your home…

A fireplace hearth has traditionally been the focal point of any living space and whether you’re restoring an existing one or putting in a new one, they are a great way to anchor the space and create a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Popular choices of fire for a contemporary interior are hole in the wall, gas or bi-ethanol fuelled. Co-ordinate this with a featured tiled wall, or sleek stone flooring. For a more traditional style, choose a log burner or open grate. Most heating appliances require a hearth, to conform to UK regulations. A hearth is not only a great way to frame your fireplace or stove appliance, they also protect your flooring and surrounding materials from the heat. Our hearth’s are available in various materials, sizes, shapes (teardrop hearths) and styles to suit all interiors so we’re confident you’ll find the perfect piece for your fireplace or stove. To give you a flavour of what is available or might suit your home, we’ve highlighted a selection of our popular hearths below.

Slate - As well as being incredibly hard wearing and easily maintained, slate has a beautifully textured surface with varying colour tones. Perfect for a variety of interior styles including more modern settings.

Limestone - Limestone is the ideal choice to lend charm and complement country cottages, farmhouses or barn conversions. Limestone has a more subtle marking than sandstone and features varying colour tones. These antiqued blanks are incredibly durable and have a tumbled and gently brushed surface with hand-finished edges to give an aged appearance.

Sandstone - Our sandstone blanks feature varying tones of taupe, rust and grey, perfect for providing a neutral palette to suit all colour schemes. These antiqued flagstones are incredibly durable and have a tumbled and gently brushed surface with hand-finished edges to give an aged appearance. The ideal choice to lend charm and complement country cottages, farmhouses or barn conversions.

Even if you don't have a functioning fire, a fire surround styled with stacked logs or candles can still make a decorative statement and will help to create a warm and welcoming space.

Tiled walls and floors in a living space can look warm and inviting too, especially if earthy tones are used. We love our Aymara Porcelain tiles in rustic autumnal tones. Of course installing underfloor heating will ensure your tiles – and your toes – are kept warm all year round.
