How do I know if my slate floor is sealed already

Hi, I have just moved into a new house and it has an old slate floor.

How will I be able to tell if this slate floor is sealed

Hello Andrew

You can very easily test natural stone surfaces for the presence of an effective sealer by following these 4 simple steps

1. Fill an egg cup with water

2. Pour this on to your slate floor

3. If it beads in to droplets like it would running down a glass window then there is sufficient sealer present.

4. Should the water spread and soak in after 10 mins, it is time to reapply your sealer.

It's always a good idea to clean over the slate tiles with LTP Grimex to remove old sealer/wax layers, clean with water, let dry and reapply your chosen sealer.

Your natural stone surface will look as good as new!
