Can slate cladding tiles be fixed inside a chimney breast?

Can slate cladding be fixed to an interior chimney breast where there is a wood burning stove. When lit the chimney breast can get very warm?

It is best practice to use an S2 type adhesive like the Granfix Ultimate flex which is a highly polymer modified adhesive. This product will allow for expansion and contraction of the tiles during periods when the log burner is lit.
