Can slate cladding tiles be fixed inside a chimney breast?

Can slate cladding be fixed to an interior chimney breast where there is a wood burning stove. When lit the chimney breast can get very warm?

Yes cladding panels have been used on many occasions for this type of installation.

It is best practice to use an S2 type adhesive like the Granfix Ultimate flex which is a highly polymer modified adhesive. This product will allow for expansion and contraction of the tiles during periods when the log burner is lit. There should always be a gap between the tiles and the log burner itself to allow for the free flow of air, further details on this can be obtained from the manufacturers of the appliance itself.

It is important to note, that neither the adhesive or the tiles should be in direct contact with naked flames.
