The Question

I am looking at purchasing Brazilian slate paving. What type of pointing grout and colour would you recommend. Also do the slabs need sealing and with what product.

The Answer

Hello David

The Mapei Ultracolor Plus grout available on our website is suitable for outdoor pavers. Most customers tend to go for the Anthracite colour with the Brazilian black pavers and the Medium Grey with the Brazilian Grey option but of course the choice is entirely yours.

It is recommended that all natural stone be sealed to help prevent staining and to aid cleaning and maintenance. We have a Natural Stone Aftercare: Sealing and Maintaining blog post which you may find helpful. The ultimate choice of which sealer to use is a personal one but the options are based on the following principles;

* I want to have my tiles protected but I want them to look as near to the natural product as possible, I have no aquatic life nearby - in this instance, we would recommend the LTP Mattstone Sealer

* I want the colours/ shading differences in my tiles to be enhanced, I have no aquatic life nearby - in this instance we would recommend the LTP Colour Intensifier and Stainblock

* I want to have my tiles protected but I want them to look as near to the natural product as possible, BUT I have a fish pond nearby - in this instance, we would recommend the LTP Mattstone H20 Sealer

I hope this helps you David but please feel free to give us a call if you have any other queries on 01283 730388, we'll be happy to help you.
