How can I finish the unfinished edge of my cladding panels to blend them with the face of the stone?

I intend using the stepped slate tiles as a feature panel behind my wood burner.

However the edges of the panel will be proud of my existing wall, how will I finish these edges as a quadrant would not work with the stepped depths of the tiles, if they are cut and then oiled would this look ok.

Yes Dawn, sealing the visible sides of natural stone with stone oil can be very effective at blending/ disguising the colour of the unfinished, cut edge with the face of the tile.

This is particularly helpful not only when using the cladding panels but when using natural slate tiles or pavers as hearths, window sills or coping stones.
