Do riven tiles flake and will they expand and contract with temperature?

Are riven slate tiles prone to flaking? Also do they expand & contract with heat or cold? Thanks

Flaking or de-laminating as it is also known is more common in either Chinese or Indian slate, with slate of Brazilian origin being so dense, this is less likely to be an issue.

Natural stone will expand and contract with temperature changes but using a flexible adhesive will usually work with any movement.
