Can you advise me on damp proofing and underfloor heating insulation?
Asked by... Craig Furzer from Belper

The Question

Hi,
Im looking to buy and install approx 30 square meters of your slate floor (not sure which one yet!)
I wondered if you could give me any advice as my dining room floor is currently quarry tiled but damp and salt comes out of these tiles so I guess I need to damp proof it somehow? Can you advise me what I need to use? I also plan to install electric underfloor heating but am unsure of what sort of insulation I need to put down, can you recommend?

Thanking you in advance

The Answer

Hello Craig

You certainly have quite a lot going on there. We would suggest seeking the services of a building professional with respect to the damp problem, they will be much better placed to offer specific advice following a detailed survey of the damp issues.

Generally, time served building contractors will have heating engineers on their payroll who will be able to offer advice on current insulation requirements with respect to your under floor heating project.

If you would like any advice on the installation of the tiles or the ancillary products once you are ready to start tiling, please feel free to contact us, we'll be happy to help.
