SHADES OF GREY - USING GREY IN YOUR INTERIOR COLOUR SCHEMES

Shades of Grey - Using Grey in Your Interior Colour Schemes

It will not have escaped your radar that grey is everywhere at the moment. From the high street in terms of fashion, through to interior style and a rather popular film with the word grey in its title the colour is taking over and the general consensus is that it won't go away any time soon.

To be honest though we don't mind because grey is such a great neutral colour to work with in the interiors sector. Equally at home paired with white, it also works great when added with splashes of bright colour, in particular yellow, bright blue and pink. On its own grey is a sophisticated and classy colour with many tones in its palette making it an elegant colour that is easy to pair with interior furnishings and can be used in a variety of room-sets.

A round up of the web and in particular sites such as Houzz and The Room Edit will quickly inspire you to bring grey into your interior colour scheme and here are some of our favourite trends that showcase grey perfectly and in particular the use of natural slate flooring in your design ideas.

Colour Pop Period Bathroom

The use of bright yellow to break up the grey and white tones in this bathroom works perfectly. The mismatch of period features in the bath furnishings and the modern metro tiles is a brilliant way to mix two distinct styles and gives the room a really contemporary style all softened with the dark wood floor.

Kitchens are the hub of the house and this modern kitchen manages to retain a cottage style whilst looking modern. The large format grey slate tiles work perfectly with the grey cabinets and warm oak worktops which gives a wonderfully cohesive feel to the room and your eye is drawn to key features such as the wooden doors and natural stone floor.

This milking parlour in Devon marries perfectly the use of natural materials in its design. Fusing together natural stone flooring, bare brick walls, ceramics and beautiful natural wood the warm tones balance out the stark white walls give a modern house with industrial elements such as the staircase to create a space with the wow factor. The riven slate flooring here is a great sophisticated flooring choice in keeping with the building's heritage and is a very versatile flooring option for all areas of the home. It's finely riven surface offers texture in keeping with the other natural materials used in this build.

We think that grey could possibly be our favourite new neutral colour and a replacement for beige. Still think grey is boring? Take a look at our range of Brazilian slate and get some inspiration for bringing grey into your home for 2016.
